but it’s Just a bicycle
Fitness has always been a very integral part of our personal lives. Referred to as the gym rats by our colleagues it was a label that we accepted and took pride in, despite the friendly jabs. We recently took up cycling and had a very animated conversation about our excitement with a close friend. He wasn’t sold, regarding us quizzically he responded, “ But it’s just a bicycle.”
We do have a serious love affair with our cycling equipment, but the adoration stems from the way it makes us the feel, the brief freedom that it affords us, and the benefits to our physical and mental health.
It has been proven that cycling is a low impact activity that anyone can do at any age. It is perfect for solo trips, couples activities, and family outings.

Improved Mental Health: Cycling outdoors exposes you to fresh air, sunlight, and nature, which can have positive effects on mental health. It reduces stress, anxiety, and depression while promoting a sense of well-being and relaxation.
Enhanced Respiratory Function: Regular cycling improves lung function and capacity by increasing oxygen intake and strengthening respiratory muscles.
Boosted Immune System: Engaging in regular moderate exercise like cycling can enhance the immune system, reducing the risk of illnesses and infections.

Social Interaction: Cycling can be a social activity, whether through group rides, cycling clubs, or simply riding with friends or family. It provides opportunities for social interaction, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
Brain Health: Cycling stimulates the brain, improving cognitive function, memory, and concentration.
Being a primary caretaker, can be taxing. Some days will feel as if the heaviness cannot be lifted no matter what you do. Cycling has helped us to compartmentalize and sort through challenges. It clears your mind and provides you with a different outlook on any situation that you may be facing. It provides a sense of normalcy, if only for a brief moment in time.
Take care of yourself, if you fall, everything will fall.
